Itenary Details

DAY01 ARRIVE KOCHI

Arrive Cochin, meet upon arrival and transfer to hotel. Kochi, or more familiarly, Cochin is a city of many parts. Around for a long, long time, Kochi played a pivotal role in the development of shipping and trade in the region. Kochi's prime location on the west coast, its fine bay and protected harbor made it popular with seafarers and merchant ships who made frequent stops to stock up on spices, coffee and wood en route to the rich markets of Europe and West Asia. And so down the ages, Kochi prospered as a busy port city and commercial centre. Its seafront is still extremely relevant to Cochin and to India: In the evening, you will be taken to a Kathakali dance centre where you will witness the most elaborate of the dance forms in southern India. DAY02 EXPLORE IN KOCHI

Morning proceed for the sightseeing tour by visiting Mattancherry and visit the oldest Jewish Synagogue (Closed on Fridays Saturdays & All the Jewish holidays) in India, built in 1568; it was destroyed by the Portuguese and rebuilt by the Dutch a century later. You will also visit The Dutch Palace (Closed on Fridays) ‐ which was built in 1555 Continue your drive to Chinese fishing nets. The cantilevered fishing nets line the entrance to the harbour mouth. Your next stop will be St. Francis Church, originally named after Santo Antonio and dedicated to him as the Patron Saint of Portugal; St. Francis Church is the first church to have been in the new European influenced tradition. Originally a wooden building was replaced by the present stone building. Vasco De Gamma died on the site in 1524.

DAY03 KOCHI-ATHIRAPALLY-VALPARAI

After breakfast drive to Valparai en route visiting the famous walterfalls Athirappily. Proceed through the Sholayar wildlife sanctuary where you can experience the wild life.Arrive Valparai by noon and check in to a Estate Bunglow.afternoon free at leisure.Valparai is a mid-elevation hill station . The tea plantations are surrounded by evergreen forest. The region is also a rich elephant tract and is known to have many leopards.The scenic drive to the town through the Wild Life Sanctuary noted for elephants, boars, lion-tailed macaques, gaur, spotted deer, sambar, and Giant Squirrels. The area is also rich in birds, including the great hornbill. Water bodies at Monkey falls and Aliyar Dam are also seen en route. Valparai receives among the highest rainfall in the region during th monsoonThe Valparai range is also habitat the Nilgiri Tahr, an endemic wild goat. These mountain goats inhabit the high ranges and prefer open terrain, cliffs and grass-covered hills, a habitat largely confined to altitudes from 1200 to 2600m in the southern Western Ghats.On the way to Valparai you can see many wild animals like lion tailed monkeys, elephants, deer, wild goats. Natives of Valparai are often attacked by leopard and tiger, there are some attacks from the elephants also. Overnight stay at estatate Bungalow.

DAY04 EXPLORE IN VALPARAI

After breakfast explore Valparai for half day en route visiting Tea estates, tea factory and neighbouring villages etc. Experience of making tea and tea tasting method. Return to Estate bunglow in the noon. Rest of the day free and spend at the Verandah of the bungalow and watch the nature.Evening your dinner with a camp fire. Overnight stay at estatate bungalow.

DAY05 VALPARAI-TIRUCHIRAPPALLI

After breakfast depart to Tiruchirappally through wind winding ghat roads of Valparai to the temple town. On arrive check in HotelConsidered one of the symbols of Tiruchirappalli, the Rockfort is a fortress which stands atop a 273-foot-high rock.It consists of a set of monolithic rocks accommodating many rock-cut cave temples. Originally built by the Pallavas, it was later reconstructed by the Madurai Nayaks and Vijayanagara rulers. The temple complex has three shrines, two of which are dedicated to Lord Ganesha, one at the foot and theUcchi Pillayar Temple at the top, and the Thayumanavar Temple between them. The Thayumanavar temple, the largest of the three, houses a shrine for Pārvatī as well as the main deity. The Rockfort is visible from almost every part of the city's north.

After Lunch and  proceed for the sightseeing tour by visiting Srirengam Temple and Rockfort.The Sree Ranganathaswamy Temple, dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, is located on the island of Srirangam. Often cited as the largest functioning Hindu temple in the world,] it has a perimeter of 4,116 metres (13,504 ft) and occupies 156 acres (630,000 m2). Considered to be among the 108 Divya Desams (Holy shrines of Lord Vishnu),the temple is believed to house the mortal remains of the Vaishnavitesaint and philosopher Ramanujacharya. Originally built by the Cholas, the temple was later renovated by the Pandyas, the Hoysalas, the Madurai Nayaks and the Vijayanagar empire between the 9th and 16th centuries

Vimana: The 'Vimana' or the temple tower is 216 ft high (60.96m) and is among the tallest of its kind in the world. Rajaraja-I a great devotee of Lord Shiva called the Sri Vimana as Maha Meru or South Kailash.

Shikaram: The 'Shikharam/Crown' (bulbous structure on the top) of the temple is very large and heavy (81.25 tons). The entire temple structure is made out of hard granite stones hardly available in Thanjavur area where the temple is located. Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY06 TRICHY-TANJORE VISIT- MADURAI 

After breakfast proceed for Thanjavur The Thanjavur Maratha palace was originally constructed by the rulers of Thanjavur Nayak kingdom. After the fall of the Thanjavur Nayak kingdom, it served as the official residence of the Thanjavur Maratha. When most of the Thanjavur Maratha kingdom was annexed to the British Empire in 1799, the Thanjavur Marathas continued to hold sway over the palace and the surrounding fort. The Bhonsle family continued to hold on to the palace even after the last kingShivaji II was deposed as per the Doctrine of Lapse.

The Bragatheeswarar Temple,( Big Temple, Thanjai Periya Koil, Rajarajeswaram[Visaippa Temple 4][Non Devara Temple] Temple: The greatest of Chola emperors Rajaraja-I (985 AD-1012 AD) the son of Sundara Chola (Parantakaa-II) built this magnificent temple named Brihadisvaram at Thanjavur, the capital of Chola dynasty. The temple is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site "Great Living Chola Temples". The temple was named as Rajarajesvaram by Rajaraja, now it is called After visit and drive to Madurai Check in for  Overnight stay at hostel.

DAY07 EXPLORE IN MADURAI

After breakfast  proceed for sightseeing tour of Madurai for visit Sree Madurai Meenakshi temple, Tirumalai naicker palce. Meenakshi Amman Temple ,is a historic Hindu temple located on the southern bank of the Vaigai River in the temple city of Madurai It is dedicated to Parvati, known as Meenakshi, and her consort, Shiva, here named Sundareswarar. The temple forms the heart and lifeline of the 2500 year old cityof Madurai and is a significant symbol for the Tamil people, mentioned since antiquity in Tamil literature though the present structure was built between 1623 and 1655 It houses 14 gopurams (gateway towers), ranging from 45-50m in height. The tallest is the southern tower, 51.9 metres (170 ft) high,and two golden sculptured vimanas, the shrines over the garbhagrihas (sanctums) of the main deities. The temple attracts 15,000 visitors a day, around 25,000 on Fridays. There are an estimated 33,000 sculptures in the temple.It was on the list of top 30 nominees for the "New Seven Wonders of the World".Thirumalai Nayak Palace is a 17th-century palace erected in 1636 AD by King Thirumalai Nayak, a king of Madurai's Nayaka dynasty who ruled Madurai from 1623–59, in the city of Madurai, India.Evening witness Bedchamper Ceremony at Meenakshi Temple.Return to Hotel for overnight stay.

DAY08 MADURAI-PERIYAR

After breakfast depart for Periyar through the villages of Tamilnadu and on arrival check in a Resort.Evening boat ride on Lake Periyar to watch the wildlife. Periyar is South India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary encompassing an area of 777 sq. km. Set on the attractive man‐made Periyar Though the sanctuary was made a part of Project Tiger in 1973, it is better known for its elephants. At Periyar Also experience trekking and bamboo rafting in the Lake for a whole day.Return to hotel for overnight stay.

DAY09 PERIYAR-ALLEPPEY

After breakfast drive down to Alleppey- On arrival check in to a traditional Kettuvallam Hoseboat for cruises and overnight stay. Houseboats in Kerala, are huge, slow-moving barges used for leisure trips. They are a reworked model of Kettuvallams, Kettu means "tied with ropes", and vallammeans "boat"), which, in earlier times,used carry rice and spices.The popularity of Kettuvallams has returned in the function as major tourist attractions.Such a houseboat is about 60 to 70 feet (18 to 21 m) long and about 15 feet (4.6 m) wide at the middle. DAY10 ALLEPPEY-MARARIKULAM

After breakfast check out from House boat and drive to Mararikulam and check in a Beachresort.Rest of the day free at sandy beaches of kerala or an ayurvedic massage to rejuvenate your mind and body. Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY11 MARARIKULAM AT LEISURE OR AYURVEDA
